Sunshine Plastics
Working with The Pastilla Institute of Design I created a completely custom WordPress theme based on PSD’s received from their team of designers. I developed the original WordPress theme in 2010, and have recently updated the look and added some functionality.
The client is able to easily edit the copy and images used throughout their site with standard WordPress pages. They can share news and updates on their blog using standard WordPress posts. The Certifications section on their About Page utilizes WordPress Custom Post Types. This allows the client to easily add, remove, and edit existing content to their website.

Johnny Jet
JohnnyJet.com is a popular blog and online travel resource. When I started to work on the project my first job was to optimize loading times and appearance. I did this by building out a theme based upon a child theme of the Genesis framework. I also utilized client and server side caching, and minification and compression of files being served. Due to faster page load times, semantic code, and other improvements we saw a 300% increase in referrals from organic Google Searches.
After the initial redesign, I have been in charge of development of new features and maintenance. This includes tying into an API to build a flight search, integrating Google DoubleClick for Publishers to serve ads, and many other features. I am also involved with content planning and strategy.

Pastilla Institute of Design
The Pastilla Institute of Design is a creative agency based in Pasadena, CA. I worked with the team at Pastilla on their website from the early planning stages through the launch. I developed the initial wireframes, and then their team created the design. I worked with another developer to create a completely custom WordPress theme from the Photoshop designs.
The Work page utilizes Custom Post Types and Custom Taxonomies. The result is a creative and user friendly front end for visitors, and an easy to manage backend for the client.
